The date was April 26, 2019 that my first hive Alpha arrived. Bill the beekeeper can be seen here pushing the hive across the creek to it’s new home. In 2019 I never thought that wading across the creek was too much work to get to the hive, but since then I am happy that I decided to keep them on the same side as my house is.
Lesson of the day: Be sure you are lifting the hive from the bottom. Bill got distracted and began to lift the hive from the top box. The bottom box which was held on by propolis, broke it’s bond after a few seconds and soon we were attacked by guard bees protecting their hive. I also discovered that bees prefer to target the face.
